Our History

Faith and Family Funeral Service has been providing compassionate, professional funeral service to the residents of Hardin and Liberty Counties since 2006.

From its humble beginnings in a simple metal building in 2006, to a beautiful, modern funeral home constructed in 2009, the history of Faith and Faith Family has been led by a commitment to serve, a faith in a loving and compassionate God, and the simple dream of Jerry Sonnier and his wife, Cindy, to care for families during the most difficult of times.

For Jerry and Cindy, it was a mission ...a calling to serve.

Jerry began his career in funeral service with Claybar Funeral Home in Orange, Texas in the 1980s. For the next 20 years, Jerry worked at several area funeral homes where he gained experience and developed the skills to serve. For nearly two decades, Jerry and Cindy cared for the residents of Hardin County with Christian compassion and dedication.

In 2022, Jerry and Cindy retired to begin a new chapter in their lives. In a full circle moment, Faith and Family was purchased by Warren Claybar and joined the Claybar Family of Companies.

With the addition of Faith and Family Funeral Services to the Claybar Family of Companies, a new era of expansion began. With our desire to extend the Claybar commitment of exemplary service, compassion andindependence to all of Southeast Texas, we began to join our 75-year legacy of service with other family-owned firms who shared our values and commitment.
